About Jane's Ministry
Jane came to us from nine years of ministering in a two-point rural/suburban pastoral charge in Nova Scotia. She loves the variety of ministry that comes with a multi-point charge. Each point has its own personality, which comes out in the spirit of worship, in decision-making, and in expectations of the ministers’ role. All grow together through frequent study/discussion series, fellowship events, visits, and being part of each other’s lives.
Jane’s preaching takes its starting point from the Bible, from either the lectionary readings, or a topical series. The Scriptures are wonderfully theologically diverse, and more often lead to questions than answers. Often the congregation responds out loud to questions raised, creating dialogue in the midst of worship.
Music is an important part of Jane’s ministry. She love’s to sing alto in church choirs, to play guitar for songs and can even fill in at piano/organ when needed. She encourages any who play instruments to be involved, young and old alike, in whatever way, on whatever level they feel comfortable.
Jane has been involved in transformational ministry, both in her continuing education, and in her two-point pastoral charge, for the past four years. She is quite familiar with churches in transition. Another large focus of her continuing education has been conflict resolution. Jane feels that conflict is an inevitable and healthy part of growth and change, and that it is our responsibility to create safe environments for differences and divergence.
